CAMPING SHEETS –
What is a camping Groundsheet?
A ground sheet is often referred to as a camping tarp, ground cover, or tent footprint a piece of cloth that protects the base of your tent from elements like bugs, rocks, twigs, and water. Before the advent of integrated ground sheets, people had to provide ground cover for tents.
When you arrive at your campground, you usually put out the ground sheet first. If you don’t manage to get to the beer first and stop yourself from killing the kids on the long drive, that is.
It’s a large sheet that is as least as big as your tent (footprint). generally built from heavy plastic or tarpaulin. It must be fairly tough, water-resistant, and light enough to be quickly folded away. To prevent killing the grass beneath your tent, campsites often demand that ground sheets be breathable.
If you have all the essentials for a relaxing and comfortable experience, camping can be a lot of fun. Camping groundsheet is undoubtedly one of those essentials. tent ground sheets are essential for keeping your stuff dry throughout your trip by preventing moisture from entering your tent. Bell Tent gives another layer of protection to your tent by standing in between you and the ground.

Why do you need a ground sheet?
You require ground sheets for two main reasons:
1 – To lessen the chance that any sharp things may rip through the floor of your wonderful tent.
2. To prevent mud and filth from getting inside your tent while you pack it up.
For the reasons listed, it is important to spread out another level of safety even if your tent comes with built-in ground sheets.
Your tent will last a lot longer if you keep the bottom dry. You don’t want to keep it damp and then hope that it will be in perfect condition the next time you need it.
TIP – Groundsheets and tent footprints are two names for the same thing. You can get footprints for some tents that are made specifically to fit them, such as the “Vango Icarus 500 footprint.” Read on for a possible money-saving tip as these can be pricey.
What ground sheets do we use?
What do we do for a groundsheet or footprint as we test and review a wide variety of tents and bell tents but they don’t all come with them as standard? the ground sheet just makes life so much easier, so we always use one and have never erected a tent without one. We bought a large tarpaulin from Amazon many years ago; I think its sizes are 4 m x 6 m. The tarp has been used extensively and is still in good condition three years later. A tiny overhang is not an issue if it is slightly too small for some tents because a majority of the tent floor is sheltered; if it is slightly too large, we just tuck it under the tent once it is erected. Decide the size.
Some even have eyelets fitted in the corners for a tarpaulin of a similarly sized, which is great for putting tent pegs through when pitching out. So ours lack eyelets, we can easily pierce the tent pegs through the sheet.
Make sure the groundsheet is ready when you arrive because this is what you’ll be laying out first. Also, be sure to have some tent pegs available for the corners so you can ensure the tent is flat, taut, and won’t blow around the wind.
Do you need a ground sheet for camping?
You might not even need to zip up your sleeping bag on mild, balmy nights. Often, campers will just drape the bag over themselves and slip their feet into the foot box of the bag. Bring a sheet and/or a lightweight blanket from home if you expect warm nights. You might only require that.
Can I use a tarp as a ground sheet?
A tarp can be used as a tent footprint. We often use tarps to protect the tent’s exterior from the elements of how strong they are. Therefore, a tarp can be located beneath the tent to protect the ground from debris and the elements.
